Her vocal specialization includes Mozart, along with the lyric soprano canon.
She began playing violin at age 4 1/2, studying for over 25 years, and has largely played classical music in ensembles and orchestras, with occasional forays into popular and rock music. Sonja has also trained in conducting and been an assistant conductor for the Pacific Women's Chorus in San Diego. She has done a year of graduate study in musicology.
New music is another interest of Sonja's, as it utilizes her strong musicianship. She also trained in acting (for actors) with Professor Jerald Schwiebert at the University of Michigan. She has perfect pitch and is fluent in the major languages of opera. Sonja is familiar with all aspects of the classical music world. She worked briefly for Philip Glass's archives, and even served as a classical music reviewer for a major music site.
